A little bit about Holly
"I am a Bristol based artist following her dreams. I’ve been drawing and doodling for as long as I can remember, and painting not long after. My childhood was spent paddling in the local stream, horse riding through the country lanes and exploring the meadow fields surrounding our little house in the village of Coombe in Gloucestershire.
After moving to the family small holding, I spent the start and end of my day feeding ducks, goats and looking after the rest of the menagerie. This love of the outdoors has clearly left its mark on me.
I chose to study Fine Art at the University of The West Of England after a fantastic time at Art College. Enjoying years of exhibiting and exploring my art practise, I was over the moon to win the John Hulla Award by the School of Creative Arts with a First Class Honours Degree. Soon after I graduated as a qualified Art Teacher at master’s level, meeting my now lovely husband Tomm.
After teaching and working in education for over 13 years I have returned to my love, my heart and my outlet of painting. A number of years away from the canvas and a spell of poor health made me rethink the direction I was heading and helped to return to what I was meant to do. I was born to be creative and given a gift to celebrate. And so, it is time for me to share my artwork with the world. Just maybe my artwork will help others to know, hard seasons will pass, we learn from these stories and they help us to write an even better one.
What if I fall?
Oh, but my darling. What if you fly?

Many times I am asked what I work from when I paint. The truth is it varies – photos, real life and my imagination. I am often lost in the process of painting. I enter a meditative state moving with tone, texture and the natural movements of the paint and how it wants to guide me. I work instinctively, allowing the image to evolve and the paint to generate tones and textures organically. Colour and texture play a huge role in what I create; brush, sponge, pallet knife, fork, lace and fabric are all found in my studio. My
canvas provides an exploration for my emotions and often an outlet to
just ‘let it be’.
My paintings capture moments, memories and celebrations of nature, encouraging the senses to come alight and from a deep connection with earth’s gifts. My palette is generated by mood, embracing what is in my head and also what is reality, often a dance between both. The subject matter is primarily seascapes celebrating my ongoing love
affair with the sea and landscapes celebrating nature and all its healing powers. Canvas’s filled with colour, vibrant colourful flowers and atmospheric skies.
I am a romantic, a believer and a spiritualist. My abstract series explores the power of meditation, its gifts and effects on me as a painter. These works involve taking risks, letting go, exploring my emotions and as a result are incredibly expressionistic. I endeavour to inspire, to ease, bring joy and clarity and to transport the viewer to a place of peace and mindfulness. Helping people to find ways to cope with the stresses of life is important to me. As my journey unfolds I hope to be able to offer art and meditation workshops. Along with putting some of the sales of my art work towards mental health awareness charities.
I am so happy that I can share this journey with you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. Wishing you a colourful day".

Nature treasures
Ref : HD 001 - 47x16inch
Natures Treasures celebrates the natural beauty of the countryside that I am so lucky to be surrounded by. Nature has the fullest colour pallet of them all, if only we took the time to look. In this moment there is nowhere to go, nothing to do, no one to be. Breath and let it be.
A moment
Ref : HD 004 - 47x16inch
A gorgeous panoramic seascape, celebrating every ounce of joy the coast offers. Rich purple heather frames the bottom of the painting leading the eye to explore. Heather represents admiration, beauty and good luck. It has been known to be associated with solitude and protection. The traditional purple heather is used to represent admiration, beauty and solitude, while the pink is associated with good luck.
Give it love
Ref : HD 003 - 47x16inch
A blanket of flowers filling the canvas brings colour and joy to whoever views it. Memories of walking through fields of flowers, grasses passing through your finger tips and the breeze gently allowing the flowers to dance in the breeze. This piece is a a true celebration of natures treasures. The paint moves joyfully around the canvas, it has been allowed to flow as it pleases. Just as nature takes its own course – its own journey. Thats where the true magic happens.
A celebration
Ref : HD 002 - 10x10inch
In a time of rapid development, growing population and unsustainable lifestyles and consumpion, re-valuing how life is lived and our relationship with mother earth, is even more urgent. Through these efforts, practices of conservation and protection are vital. The perservation of ecosystems and nature itself. The future of the environement will depend on building stronger relationships and connections between people and nature. ‘A Celebration’ is a guardian of nature, celebrating all its joys, happiness and calming influence.
Let's dance among the flowers Forever
Ref: HD 020 - 10x10inch
All the colours on Nature’s pallet fill this canvas. Calming skies look down below to a dance between colour and movement. This piece was a joy to paint and each layer of flowers has been lovingly painted, creating endless textures for you to enjoy.
Poppies after the storm
Ref: HD 006 - 7x5inch
Atmospheric textured skies, wild flowers and calm seas fill ‘Poppies after the Storm’. A little pocket of calm to fill your home and a reminder that all things pass.
The sun always shines after the storm.
Faith
Ref : HD 007 - 12x10inch
The glow of the sun rising begins to spread across the coast, spreading its warmth onto everything it touches. A bright pallet of blues and purples dominate this piece. Brush and pallet knife used to layer and sculpt.
Faith can move mountains – its all about believing.
Safe haven
Ref : HD 008 - 10x5inch
Gentle reflections, rustling waves and delicate flowers moving in the breeze. Calm skies, a safe haven.
Passion led me here
Ref : HD 009 - 20x20inch
This painting was inspired by my love affair with the sea. While walking the coastal path and discovering a hidden cove through the long grasses. A view so magical, it continues to transport the viewer to a place of calm and tranquillity, the sounds of the sea and the taste of salty air. The sound of crashing waves induces a deep state of relaxation on the mind and body ~ a moment in time captured for all to enjoy.
Secret spot
Ref : HD 005 - 10x10inch
The sky is ever-changing, always creating a new canvas to paint. Atmospheric skies sweep through this joyful piece, hugged by layers and layers of sculpted flowers. The paint is laid on thickly, with floral detail wrapping around the canvas. A true celebration of natures gifts. The piece comes ready to hang.
Let it be
Ref : HD 011 - 47x16inch
A sweeping panorama of atmosperic skies, rolling cliffs in the distance and endless waves breaking on the shores. If you look close you can see a small murmuration of birds flying high above the waves. The piece is full of movement, layers and love. It has been reworked and reworked again until all the emotion needed was poured into the heart of it.
Let it go and let it be.
In the Hartland
Ref : HD 014 - 10x8inch
This piece is a response to a wonderful visit to Hartland Bay in Devon, to see its spectalur cliffs and contorted rock layers. North of Bude, Hartland Bay experiences some of the roughest seas in winter. Lovingly painted with brush and sculpted with pallet knife.
Gratitude
Ref : HD 010 - 10x10inch
Bold, standing tall the sunflower faces the sun. Soaking up all its positive, wholesome energy. Keep your face to the sun and allow the shadows to drift away. Painted with brush, pallet knife, sunrays and positve energy.
Let your smile change the world…
Joy
Ref : HD 016 - 20x20inch
Life can get busy sometimes. Sometimes we are so busy getting on with the business of life, we forget to just stop and just be. This painting offers a mindful moment, a pause to pay attention to our lives ~ to the thoughts and feelings we have. We can steer our ship and chart our course to anywhere we want to go.
It's a beautiful day
Ref : HD 015 - 10x10inch
The world is full of beauty, if only we allowed time to look. This eyecatching, detailed canvas is a respone to a beautiful moment while walking the cornish coast. Through a divide in the flowers swaying in the sea breeze, waves could be heard breaking on the shore. As the suns rays began to touch the water, I was reminded of the pure beauty that nature offers us every minute of every day. A romantic painting which will bring a ray of happiness, colour and warmth to any home.
I Am
Ref : HD 012 - 20x20inch
The sea holds a very magical place in my heart. ‘I am’ is a celebration of the seas healing powers. The seas positive energy is celebrated through the bright, colourful paint pallet used in the sky. Through any tough season, this painting can be viewed and its beauty and magic absorbed to aid healing. A moment of calm amidst the business of life.
Red skies
Ref HD 018 - 7x5inch
A rare piece from me in oils, this piece needed oils to build the colour and texture that it needed. Sailors and farmers relied on the weather to navigate ships and plant crops. The colours we see in the sky are rays of sunight being split into colours of the spectrum as they pass through the atmoshere. The amount of water vapor and dust in the atmospere determine which colours we will see in the sky. This painting is a celebration of natures glorious miracles, its red skies triumphing the skies and earth below.
Shakespeare in his play, Venus and Adonis – “like a red mourn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds crusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to the herds”.
Freedom
Ref : HD 013
Birds flying high, sea below, the world is just as it should be. This piece is a direct reaction to the beauty of rocky times. Even in seasons of challenges we can find beauty and find things to be grateful for. In doing this – we learn and grow. The sea is ever changing. Choppy, turbulant seas, atmospheric skies always are followed by calm, peaceful seas. I nearly called this peace ‘Hope’ as it really resignated with me during the painting process. ‘Freedom’ eventually became its name.
Beautiful, free and wild.
Hidden Cove
Ref : HD 017 - 20x30inch
Atmospheric skies sweep across the canvas, hugged in the foreground by long grasses blowing in the breeze. Paint, inks, pallet knife and brush create all the sumptious markings in this painting.
Hopes Cove
Ref : HD 019 - 12x10inch
‘Hopes Cove’ is a small seaside village in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the South Devon coast. This painting is a direct response to my visit, exploring the warm tones of the suns rays reflecting on the water at the end of each day. The pallet is bright resulting in a canvas bursting with colour, paint thickly applied and layered with a pallet knife and brush.
